A tribute to where it all began 💯

The Te Kahu Classic Hoodie marks the return of one of the very first designs connected to Local Productionz. Before we owned a press, before the late nights in the studio, and before Local Productionz became what it is today, there were only 10 of these hoodies in existence.

Originally created as sample pieces, those first 10 garments became the foundation of the journey. Years later, many of those original hoodies are still being worn, making this design one of the most meaningful pieces in our collection.

The name *Te Kahu* carries a dual meaning.

Traditionally, *Te Kahu* translates to "The Cloak" — a symbol of protection, identity, belonging and the stories we carry with us. Throughout Māori culture, cloaks have long represented status, connection and heritage.

At the heart of this hoodie sits the Te Kahu design itself, inspired by the **Kāhu (Harrier Hawk)**. Known for its strength, vision and ability to soar high above the land while remaining connected to it, the Kāhu represents resilience, perspective and moving forward with purpose. Within Māori traditions, the Kāhu has also been viewed as a significant and respected bird.

Every element of this hoodie has been placed with purpose.

Positioned over the heart, the original Local Productionz circle logo serves as a reminder to never forget your roots. It represents home, whānau, community and the experiences that shape who we are.

Across the back sits the Te Kahu artwork. Inspired by the form and presence of the Kāhu, it symbolises vision, courage and the strength to rise above challenges while continuing to move forward.

We have added to the classic hood. Flowing across the sleeves and meeting together through the hood, the surrounding pattern work represents balance, grounding and protection. While the Kāhu encourages us to soar, these elements remind us to stay connected to our values, our people and where we come from.

Together, the design tells a story of growth without forgetting your foundations. Of carrying home with you wherever life takes you.
